Ahhhhh, the Maldives. What can I say except pure bliss. We have stayed in quite a few resorts over the years but the Four Seasons at Kuda Huraa is on another level. From the moment we landed in Maale we were taken care of. A Four Seasons representative greeted us, took our luggage and escorted us to their private lounge for refreshments. Soon we were whisked away in beautifully kitted out speedboat and 20mins later we arrived in paradise. Here are some pics taken on my iPhone which don’t even scratch the surface of how beautiful this place is.

The instant we arrived I could feel the tension, exhaustion and stress slipping away. Whether sitting by the gorgeous main infinity pool or hanging out in our beautiful family villa, Kuda Huraa is all about relaxation. This resorts caters to both couples and families, there is so much for everyone to do. The kids club is amazing and kept our biggest explorer going back for more, he was never bored and crashed out early most nights after a massive day. Highlights for our biggest explorer were: crab races each night, fish feeding from the jetty, feeding the turtles at the discovery centre, visiting Big Mamma at the kids club and swimming in both the infinity pool and our private pool at our villa.

The adults only pool and restaurant allowed us to reconnect as a couple and spend some quality time together. Our main complaint at other resorts we have stayed at is that after we have organised to have the kids looked after and are out for a romantic dinner together, the last thing you want is someone else’s kid running around your table. Kuda Huraa resolves this issue and with 3 other restaurants on the island everyone is catered for.

I was lucky enough to spend my birthday in the Maldives and the team at Kuda Huraa made it so special. The day started off with a champagne breakfast followed by a swim in the pool with my boys. My gorgeous girlfriends back in Melbourne arranged for me to have a massage at the spa island. So after lunch by the pool, my husband and I hopped aboard the traditional donghi for the 2 minute trip across the lagoon to the spa island. Spa island is heaven. The treatment rooms are individual pavilions over the water with glass viewing windows in the floor so you can watch the sea life below. My biggest decision for the day was whether to keep my eyes open and watch the fish or close my eyes and fall into a state of bliss while being massaged! Hands down the best spa experience I have ever had. The masseuses are highly skilled and you leave spa island drifting on your very own cloud. After my massage, the spa staff all gathered around to sing happy birthday to me and gave me a present from the spa. It was beautiful and I felt very special.

Later that night, my husband had organised a private dinner on the deck overlooking the water for our family. Again the team surprised me by bringing a cake out and singing happy birthday. It was truly a beautiful way to celebrate my birthday. And just when I thought the day was over and was about to collapse into bed, I found a present on my pillow from all the staff. A relaxation cd and gorgeous handmade handbag – what a way to top off an already amazing day.
