If you haven’t dropped into Hickinbotham of Dromana lately, you are in for a surprise. And what a lovely surprise it is! Gone are the days of casual pub dining and in its place, a refreshing new menu showcasing local produce and topped off with a fabulous selection of wine and ales. While the winery and restaurant have undergone a revamp, there is still plenty of history to reflect on throughout the venue. The stunning cobbled brick floor and open fire place remain, giving the the winery a rustic and relaxed feel – perfect for a special Sunday lunch with the family.
I was lucky enough to try out the new “Escape to H” menu which is jam packed with amazing fresh local produce including herbs and veggies straight from the Hickinbotham garden. Head chef Marcus Levy is passionate about creating great food and the new menu reflects his philosophy that the quality of the ingredients should do the talking.
Not only can you taste Hickinbotham’s award winning wines, there are 11 beers and ciders available for tasting and purchase from the Hix Microbrewery. Now that should keep everybody happy!
Why not check out the “Great Escape” package this weekend where for $55 per head you can completely indulge yourself and truly escape by letting the staff make all the decisions for you. The chefs will carefully select 5 courses for you to enjoy. Add another $25 per head and each course is accompanied by Hickinbotham’s award-winning wine or beer.
