It’s taken me a while to put this post together, thanks for being patient! I surprised my husband recently and took him on a trip to Magnetic Island for his birthday. Since we got back my little adventurers have been non stop sick with pneumonia and croup so I haven’t had much spare time to blog. Our house is finally on the mend so I thought I’d start with a few happy snaps from the trip:

Magnetic Island is a fabulous place and Peppers Blue on Blue could not have been a more perfect place for us to stay. We had a huge 3 bedroom apartment overlooking the marina with a lovely big balcony to soak up the sun and watch the boats from.

The Boardwalk Restaurant at Peppers was fantastic. They were great with the kids and the food was delicious. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful which can make or break a stay.

Our top picks to do on the Island are:

– Visit the Bungalow Bay Koala Village. My little adventurers loved the Koala park! You can get a kiss from a cockatoo, cuddle a koala, hang out with a snake or get up close with a baby croc. I think our whole family conquered our fear of snakes, there were so many of them! My favourite part of the visit was when my biggest adventurer had a carpet python draped around his neck and as the snakes head slowly moved towards him he asked very politely (in a shaky voice) “please don’t come near me!”. Very cute 🙂

– Take a horseback ride with Horseshoe Bay Ranch. Trek through the bush on horseback to the pristine Horseshoe bay beach. Once at the beach the saddles are removed from the horses and you get to take a dip in the cool, clear waters of the Coral sea all while on horseback. It was a beautiful experience and something we’ll never forget.

– Hire a kayak at Horseshoe Bay. We paddled around with our biggest adventurer and it was so much fun. We even saw a couple of little turtles pop their heads up and check us out.

All up it was a wonderful break for the family and the kids absolutely loved it. If you are looking for a vacation away from the hustle bustle and prefer a quieter environment than other islands say like Hamilton Island, then this is the place for you. I would love to go back one day, it was so peaceful 🙂
