Last week we had a conference in the city and as we live out of town, we decided to bring the kids in with us and stay at Docklands. There is so much for the kids to do and they absolutely loved it.

We stayed at Apartments @ Docklands and the the apartment was huge (possibly bigger than my house!) with loads of room for everyone. It’s nice and close to restaurants and has a beautiful view across the water too. It would be a great location to stay if you were heading to the football as my biggest adventurer pointed out.

Some highlights for the the kids were going on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel (which we could see from our apartment lit up at night), riding on a tram and exploring The Monkey Mania Playcentre. There is also the Medibank Icehouse which is Australia’s largest ice sports and entertainment venue.

For bigger adventurers there is Harbour Town Factory Outlet Shopping which has some amazing bargains. These school holidays they have a loom band activity centre and Disney Frozen activity centre which is sure to be a hit with the kids.

If your kids are a little older, I’m sure they would love to do the Urban Scrawl Tour which takes you on a journey though Melbourne’s lane ways to discover hidden Artistic treasures. Melbourne’s character has been transformed by the activity of street artists over decades, whose creativity and innovation in their practice has led to the city being named one of the street art capitals of the world. I had so much fun on this tour and would highly recommend it.

Going into the ‘big smoke’ was such a novelty for the kids and they can’t wait to do it again!
