These school holidays we were looking for somewhere to escape to, somewhere to relax, somewhere to unplug. And we couldn’t have found a more perfect place: The Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.

What a resort! Set on the picturesque white sandy shore of Natadola Beach, there is no need to venture beyond the resort. Natadola Beach has to be one of the best beaches I’ve seen in Fiji and it’s very versatile. Early morning surfers catch the first break. Snorkelers explore the tropical underwater world while the tide is high. Holiday makers take a horse ride along the shore in the afternoon when the tide is out and then as the sun sets and the ocean is like glass the stand up paddle boarders come out to greet the stars.

My favourite time of day had to be sunset at the Resort. No matter what you are doing or where you are the sunset is simply stunning. Whether you are watching the fire show, enjoying cocktails by the adults only pool or having a romantic dinner at Navo Restaurant – all the while the beautiful sunset is your backdrop.

There REALLY is something for everyone. Hubby was ecstatic with with championship Golf Course. With magnificent views of the ocean you’d be hard pressed to find a course with a better view.

If relaxation is your thing then the Spa is for you. The spa itself seems to be floating on a calm waterway giving you the feeling of being completely secluded from the outside world. The very private treatment rooms enhance this feeling with individual pavilions looking out onto peaceful water gardens.

The kids had so much fun at the kids club and loved hanging out with the other kids there. The ages of our kids meant that we had to hire a nanny to look after them but they were able to participate in the Kids Club activities. Mary, our nanny was very attentive with the kids and did a great job putting our minds at ease. This meant we were able to enjoy a few precious kid free dinners and reconnect as a couple. Cheers to that!

My favourite things to do were:

1) Have a chilled out lunch with the kids on the huge day beds at the Kama Lounge

2) Sunset cocktails by the adults only pool

3) Massages at the beautiful spa

4) Swimming in the pristine ocean with the kids

5) Romantic dinners at Navo with my hubby
