I grew up on the NSW Central Coast and whilst I spent a fair amount of time trying to escape the coast when I was younger, now I find any excuse to get back there. It’s funny how much you take for granted when you’re younger and the coast really is a gem with so much for the kids to do. I wrote some time back about spending lazy days at my parents oasis (you can read about it HERE) but they recently packed up and moved house. I know how dare they! I was devastated. They had been in their old house for such a long time that coming back this time was tinged with a little bit of sadness. We’ve had so many fond memories of Christmases and family dinners there that it’s been hard to move on.

On the flip side, they’ve moved into a fabulous pad with everything a kid could wish for. In the words of my five year old, this place rocks! With a pool and access to Brisbane Waters my dad has earned the title of worlds best Pop. We spent our days by the pool or out fishing on the boat and it’s been a blast.

For me, travel is all about making memories with my kids. As far as trips go, this was definitely up there with the best. Goes to show that sometimes you don’t need a 5 star resort, room service and kids clubs to have the best time. All you need is your family and a little bit of sunshine helps too!

Looks like we’ve made some new memories to treasure and the kids can’t wait to get back there and do it all over again. It’s not quite home but it’s beginning to get there…
