Dear Vanuatu: thank you, thank you, thank you! Who knew travelling with kids could actually be RELAXING? No, that’s not sarcasm – no kidding, it really was amazing.

I can honestly say that Vanuatu was one of the MOST relaxing trips we’ve ever taken. The resort was perfect and the kids loved every second of the holiday which meant we had plenty of down time too.

The team at the Warwick Le Legon have got it all worked out. And we all know, happy kids = happy parents. The kids stay, play and eat free (um yes, please!) and everything kid-wise is taken care of. The Kids Club has a soft play indoor park for the kids to explore, a trampoline and plenty of other activities to keep the littlies entertained.

Meal times were fuss free with a kids buffet set up poolside for lunch and a separate kids buffet area in the main restaurant for dinner.

We stayed in a garden bungalow and this was perfect for us. It had two double beds, a large ensuite with bath and a verandah at the front to watch the world go by. We were a short walking distance from all the action – the pool, restaurants and beach but far enough away that it was nice and quiet.

Blue Lagoon

Blue lagoon is a spectacular natural swimming hole with crystal blue waters and rope swings to bring out your inner child. The colour of the water has to be seen to be believed. Its white sandy bottom gives the water a bright blue appearance and you’ll want to spend hours here splashing in the water with the kids.

Turtle Sanctuary

The Turtle Sanctuary was a definite highlight of our trip. Holding the tiny baby turtles and learning about the turtle conservation was a great experience. Then the kids got to get in the lagoon and feed the larger turtles.  It was amazing to see them up close and something the kids are still talking about.

We did a day tour with Atmosphere Tours that took us to the Blue Lagoon and Turtle Sanctuary. Our guides Steve and Moses were excellent and encouraged the kids to ask as many questions as possible. We learnt about Vanuatu culture, history, their flag and much much more.

Hideaway Island

We were a little hesitant to book a snorkelling trip with a 3 year old and a 6 year old in tow but were so glad that we did! Hideaway island is a little snorkelling paradise and the perfect spot to teach the kids how to snorkel. As soon as you step into the water, there are fish all around and the reef is literally metres away from the shore. We put the boys in life jackets and they really enjoyed seeing all the underwater sealife. My 6 year old really took to it and spent hours chasing the schools of fish around. My three year old gave it a go but wasn’t as confident. He was happy to hop on my back as I snorkelled so we all felt like we had plenty of time on the reef. The lunch at Hideaway was superb and the kids enjoyed seeing the underwater post office too!

It simply was an amazing holiday with the kids. So relaxing and fun, we really felt like we had plenty of family time and chill out time by the pool.
